Chaperone has developed and utilizes a proprietary screening process—the HSF1 activation screen—to allow selective identification and highly efficient development of therapeutics for a range of diseases caused by defects in protein folding. Chaperone's lead compounds will be therapeutically useful for human diseases of protein misfolding and protein conformational disorders. Chaperone's unique screen has the ability to select only therapeutic compounds that restore the natural balance of protein folding without the induction of acute proteotoxicity.
Chaperone's lead compounds have been shown to be effective at suppressing protein aggregation by activating human transcription factor HSF1 which activates the entire chaperone protein network. It has been shown that chaperone proteins work synergistically to combat protein aggregation; therefore, enabling the body's natural chaperone protein response should be effective at reducing levels of protein aggregation.
